The Best Loose Leaf Turmeric Teas

I decided to split this list up into two sections. The first is the five loose-leaf turmeric tea brands or blends. The next section deals with bag versions of temerity and you can jump to that in the table of contents. I just thought it best to split them up because there’s enough difference between the two types of tea. Let’s have a look at these great loose-leaf turmeric tea offerings.

Art Of Tea’s Bright-Eyed Ginger Turmeric Tea

Art Of Tea is a great option for a wide variety of herbs and herbal teas, in general. Their organic turmeric root blend is one of the best around and makes for a great cup of tea. The earthy slightly sweet flavor of turmeric tea mixed with the soothing ginger is something that I think every tea drinker should try at least once and you cannot go wrong with Art Of Tea’s Bright Eyed Ginger Turmeric Tea as the basis for that cup of herbal tea.

Both of the loose-leaf turmeric offerings on this list are going to give you a great cup of turmeric tea and can be used to craft your own turmeric tea blends. It really is going to come down to personal choice when deciding between Frontier Coop and Starwest Botanicals for your loose turmeric root. You can find Art Of Tea’s Bright Eyed Ginger Turmeric Tea right here.

Starwest Botanicals Organic Turmeric Root

Starwest Botanicals is my go-to source for any type of loose-leaf herb. They have an incredibly impressive supply of just about every route leaf or flower that you can possibly imagine and then, of course, turn into a delicious herbal infusion.

So it comes as no surprise that the turmeric root offered by Starwest Botanicals makes this list with flying colors. They offer their root in a variety of forms. You can get cut and sifted root or turmeric powder and even sliced turmeric root, although this one is not great for making a cup of tea out of.

Turmeric powder or the cut and sifted root are your best options for making a cup of tea. The root powder is going to be simpler but the cut and sifted root make you an excellent cup of tea as well. The great thing about this turmeric root tea is it it’s just turmeric by itself.  Many of the teas on this list are going to be turmeric tea blends of some kind or another.

But regular turmeric tea has not made it into the mainstream. What has become incredibly popular is the health benefits of turmeric. What happens when something like this becomes very popular is that big companies get involved. So you will find quite a few turmeric teas and blends now and in the future.

At any rate, if you want a great cup of turmeric tea then this is one of the best options for a loose-leaf turmeric root. You can find Starwest Botanicals Organic Turmeric Root right here.

Vahdam Teas Turmeric Fennel Herbal Tea

This blend consists of turmeric, fennel, peppermint, and rosemary. It is an eclectic blend of some of my favorite flavors. The fennel flavor brings a wonderful subtle licorice flavor to the blend. You can learn more about fennel seed tea in our guide here.

The sweet earthiness of the turmeric blends well with the peppery, spicy peppermint flavor. The final flavor is one of my favorites. I try and find any reason to add rosemary to my cooking and find the savory rosemary tea herbal infusion to taste wonderful.

The rosemary brings that same savory flavor to this turmeric blend without overpowering it in any way. This is a blissful tea blend that will appeal to just about anyone. You can give this incredible turmeric blend a try right here. Vahdam Teas Turmeric Fennel Herbal Tea, available on Amazon.

Vahdam Teas Turmeric Fennel Herbal Tea Steeping Instructions

  • Always steep your tea covered and use good quality water.

Starwest Botanicals Organic Turmeric Spice Tea

Starwest Botanicals might be known for their loose herbs but they make a mean cup of tea when they set to it. For this turmeric blend, they bring together 3 familiar flavors that work in perfect harmony with each other. Organic turmeric root, organic cinnamon, and organic ginger root are the three flavors that make up this incredible turmeric tea blend.

The warming ginger and earthy, sweet turmeric are fantastic together when you add in the distinct spice flavor of the cinnamon you have a truly special blend. Starwest Botanicals is a great place for herbs and their loose herbal tea blends follow that tradition. They are expertly crafted and wonderful to drink.

You can also get this fantastic turmeric tea blend in tea bags if you find that more convenient. I did not taste a difference between them. You can find Starwest Botanicals Organic Turmeric Spice Tea on their website.

  • A 212°F/100°C Water Temperature Is Recommended By Starwest Botanicals although I do not like to use boiling water in most cases, here it should not be a problem.
  • Steep Covered For 5 to 10 minutes add or subtract time for personal taste

Vahdam Teas Turmeric Pepper Herbal Tea

This is a turmeric tea blend that is right up my alley. I love the taste of a peppery, spicy, flavorful tea and on its own Tumeric tea is not any of those things really. But when you add in the cardamom, cloves, and black pepper That make up the other ingredients of this blend you’ve to have a wonderful Eclectic blend that really changes the texture of the turmeric tea.

One of the reasons why turmeric tea is such a good candidate for these types of Blends is because it does have a subtle flavor to it. There’s an earthiness to it and a bit of sweetness but it’s not all that powerful. So when you find these other ingredients to blend with it, like the pepper, like the cardamom, like the cloves it really enhances the flavor of the tea and the enjoyability of drinking this particular blend.

This is a loose-leaf turmeric blend so it takes a little more prep time than a turmeric tea bag. One thing I did notice is that the recommended steeping temperature is a little less than many other herbal infusions.

Always use the suggested steep instructions as a starting point for crafting your cup of turmeric pepper tea or any tea for that matter. Your personal tastes are going to dictate every aspect of the steeping process. Grab A taste of Vahdam Teas Turmeric Pepper Tea available on Amazon.

Tea Bags A Plenty

Best Turmeric Tea Bags

Many people enjoy the convenience and ease of use of tea bags. There is no real downside to using bags as I have found very little difference in the overall taste of the tea.

The quality of the tea brand tends to make much more of a difference when it comes to taste. Here are some of the best turmeric tea bags that I have tried.

Culinary Teas Organic Turmeric Ginger Peach Black Tea

I think that Culinary Teas Organic Turmeric Ginger Peach Black Tea is one of the more unique turmeric blends on our list It is ginger and turmeric and peach in the convenience of a teabag. It is quick and simple and simply delicious.

What’s not to like? The spicy pepper ginger is always a great partner for a tea blend. And this turmeric blend is no exception. It is a delight to drink. As refreshing as it is eye-opening. The peach fruit flavor balances everything out

This is a great morning tea to get you up and moving with all the caffeine in a true tea like black and the added spiciness from the ginger really compliments the earthiness of the turmeric. With a slight natural peach sweetness to top it off, this root herbal blend will warm you all the way to your toes. I am a big fan of Culinary Teas in general and their ginger peach turmeric tea bags do not disappoint.

Give Culinary Teas Organic Turmeric Ginger Peach Black Tea a chance and see what you think of it. It is available on their website.

Suggested Steeping Instructions For Organic Turmeric Ginger Peach Black Tea

  • 1 bag of Culinary Teas Organic Turmeric Ginger Peach Black Tea
  • A water temperature of 200°F/93°C works well
  • A 4-7 minute steep is what I recommend but find your perfect steep time with a little experimentation
  • Always steep your turmeric tea covered

Traditional Medicinals Organic Turmeric with Meadowsweet & Ginger Tea

There is a theme with these turmeric tea blends. A lot of them loved to use ginger with their blend.  This is perfectly fine with me because I absolutely love Ginger. I love ginger tea I love the taste of it in food it’s just a great all-around spice.

But it’s also a very well-known one and one that people are very familiar with and comfortable with. And that is the reason why you see a blended with so many of these lesser-known herbal teas. And by lesser-known I mean lesser-known in their pure form.  Turmeric is obviously very popular right now but actual pure turmeric tea hasn’t moved the needle very much.

That’s where a larger tea manufacturer like Traditional Medicinals comes in with their flavored turmeric tea blend. It opens the tea up to more people because the flavor of it is going to be more recognizable and palatable for a wider variety of people.

The good news is the quality doesn’t suffer.  This is still a very good turmeric tea and one that I think will appeal to a lot of people not only because of the ginger but because of the meadowsweet that is added to it. All these flavors come together to create a very flavorful tea that warms the body due to the ginger in it and is very smooth and drinkable because of its Blended nature.

The earthy sweetness of the turmeric is still there but a little bit more subdued because of the other flavors. Traditional Medicinals Organic Turmeric with Meadowsweet & Ginger Tea is available on Amazon.

Suggested Steeping Instructions

  • Traditional Medicinals Organic Turmeric with Meadowsweet & Ginger Tea
  • A water temperature of 200°F/93°C will do nicely
  • The instructions call for a 10-15 minute steep for this brand. I think that is a little too long and prefer to steep for around 7 minutes or so.
  • Always steep your turmeric tea covered

Vahdam Teas Organic Turmeric Ashwagandha Tea Bags

This is one of the more interesting turmeric tea Blends that I’ve come across. You won’t find the mainstream ingredients that are so prevalent in many of these tea blends. There’s no Ginger to be found, there’s no green tea or anything like that. The main blend here is an ashwagandha turmeric tea blend.

There is also a little bit of lemongrass in there for good measure. It adds a nice mild citrus note that compliments the earthiness of the turmeric and ashwagandha root. Ashwagandha root brings with it a whole host of its own benefits and an interesting flavor to boot. You can find out more about the flavor profile of Ashwgadha Tea in my article here.

Turmeric has a bit of an earthy flavor to it and ashwagandha doubles down on that with its very earthy flavor. But the lemongrass makes it smoother and the slight sweetness of the turmeric rounds out one of the most interesting tea blends on our list.

There are also small amounts of pepper and licorice in this blend which add to the flavor but are not really that noticeable. Vahdam Teas Organic Turmeric Ashwagandha Tea is available on Amazon. Making a cup of this turmeric tea blend is very similar to steeping a cup of ashwagandha tea. You can read my article about how to make a great cup of ashwagandha tea to learn more.

Steeping Instructions For Vahdam Teas Organic Turmeric Ashwagandha Tea Bags

  • 1 Vahdam Teas Organic Turmeric Ashwagandha Tea Bag
  • Water Temperature Should be around 200°F/93°C
  • Vahdam Teas calls for a 3-5 minute steep for this turmeric blend. I found around 7 minutes was great for my tastes
  • Make sure to cover your tea while you steep it

Teamonk Turmeric Green Tea Bags

This is the only true tea blend that I put on this list. The blend of green tea and turmeric tea is a very nice one. The earthy flavor of turmeric tea adds a little bit to the vegetable sweetness of green tea. But truth be told the green tea is really front and center in this blend. But I felt it was enough turmeric flavor to be included on our list.

There are a few added factors you need to consider when dealing with a blend between an herbal infusion and a true tea. First and foremost this blend does have caffeine in it. Turmeric tea is naturally caffeine-free but once you introduce green tea into it you will get caffeine. If that’s an issue for you then you need to skip this particular blend.

As long as your blend turmeric tea with other herbal infusions you won’t get the caffeine part of the equation. Another interesting thing about this green tea blend is that you need to be very careful when steeping it. Most of the other turmeric Blends on this list call for pretty high water temperature and long is 7 to 10 minutes steep.

You can’t do that with green tea. If your water temperature is anywhere near boiling you are typically going to burn your leaves and turn your tea into a very bitter, astringent mess. Likewise, if you steep your turmeric green tea for 10 minutes it’s going to be very bitter and not very drinkable. So that is a couple of things to look out for when choosing this turmeric tea blend.

Having said all that this is a very good turmeric tea blend when prepared properly. I think there is enough flavor from the turmeric tea that adds a nice earthiness to the overall flavor of the tea and really complements the green tea well. If you want to try this blend out you can find Teamonk Turmeric Green Tea Bags on Amazon.

Teamonk Turmeric Green Tea Steep Instructions

  • 1 Teamonk Turmeric Green Tea Bag
  • Water Temperature is crucial. I recommend 180°F/82°C for steeping this turmeric green tea blend.
  • A 2-3 minute steep will give you a great flavor without over-steeping the green tea.
  • Use good quality water and steep your tea covered

Organic India Tulsi Turmeric Ginger Tea Bags

This is another wonderful ginger turmeric blend with the added bonus of having a little bit of tulsi or holy basil, flavor added to it. We know about the warming spiciness of ginger and the earthy sweetness of the turmeric root.

But what does tulsi bring to the table? What new flavor experience does adding tulsi to this blend create? It is pretty complex. Peppery, warm, and a little bitter are all accurate ways to describe tulsi and it comes through a little bit in this tea. It does complement the ginger and turmeric quite well.

There are also a few other flavors in this tea that are listed by Organic India. They are Cinnamon, Black Pepper, and Clove. They are noticeable somewhat but not to the point where they distract from the major flavors. There is a small amount of stevia in the tea as well. If you are very sensitive to artificial sweeteners you will taste them right away. I certainly did.

While I still recommend this tea because it is quite tasty, the stevia means I will drink it very sparingly. I added it to this list for people who like a little bit of added sweetness to their tea. The teabags themselves are unbleached and made from a biodegradable fiber which helps keep waste down. Check out Organic India Tulsi Turmeric Ginger Tea Bags, available on Amazon.

Steep Instructions For Organic India Tulsi Turmeric Ginger Tea

  • 1 Organic India Tulsi Turmeric Ginger Tea Bag
  • I recommend 200°F/93°C for steeping this turmeric tea blend.
  • A 5-10 minute steep will give you a great flavor. Add or subtract time to make your cup of tea your own.
  • Always Steep your tea covered

My Top Pick For Turmeric Tea

I am always a little bit reluctant to pick my favorite when writing these types of articles. If the tea is on this list then I find it to be very good and worthy of your consideration. With all that said, I do have a favorite from this list.

If I had to choose Art Of Tea’s Bright Eyed Ginger Turmeric Tea is my go-to turmeric tea. This blend is exceptional. I love ginger tea so that certainly plays into my choice for this turmeric tea. When you add in the convenience of this tea it really pushes offering up to the top of the list when you want a quick cup of tea. All of them do quite well but this blend is my favorite.

The Turmeric Tea Finish

That wraps up our look at these fantastic turmeric tea options.  I think any of these is going to give you a good idea of what a great turmeric tea or blend looks like, feels like, and tastes like. If you’re just looking for a cup of regular turmeric tea they can be a bit more difficult to find. But the two loose-leaf turmeric brands on this list are exceptional.

The point is there’s a little bit of something for everybody. If you are choosing a blend then choose one with flavors that you know you like because that’ll make the experience all that much more enjoyable. If you’re trying turmeric tea for the first time I would urge you to make a cup with nothing added to it.  The reason for this is you want to find out if you actually like the turmeric tea blend by itself.

If you have to dump a bunch of sugar or honey or other sweeteners into your tea then you’re probably not thrilled with the taste of it, to begin with. If that’s the case, then maybe finding something else to drink, either another tea or some other beverage would be better than adding a bunch of extra sugar to your cup.

Finding tea that you really like is a personal journey really. Maybe it’s turmeric tea, maybe not. Give one or two of these teas on the list a try and see what you think.

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.
